We are delighted for and very Proud of Yanny Petters - Botanical Artist Who has been Shortlisted for the Gloden fleece award 2017.
Yanny who teaches watercolours in the Scchoolhouse for Art specialises in Verre Églomisé/Reverse Painting on Glass, a very old technique once used to paint icons. Irish wild plants are the theme and her work raises awareness of their fragility and beauty. Yanny's technique makes precious that which modern farm practices often threaten and she endeavours to share with the public her fascination with the minutiae of local habitats.
We wish her the very best of luck !
The 2016 Enniskerry Christmas Art Exhibition is coming soon !
For those of you who have not had the opportunity to visit us recently, we have completed some super structural work over the summer and have officially opened The Schoolhouse Gallery. We've kicked off with Michael Gemmell's 'Above the West' exhibition followed by 'in our own time' an exhibition by the contestants of RTÉ's Painting the Nation programme. We are gaining a great reputation as a great art destination in a stunning location.
The Schoolhouse Gallery: We have a transformed the large schoolroom into a versatile and dynamic art space which transforms from classroom to gallery with the help of our new sliding walls.

We will then open over the weekend from 12pm to 5pm Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th which will include some free painting demonstrations by our Art tutors. Weather permitting we will have Santa pose for us for a life drawing/painting session

The solo exhibition of Paintings on Glass by Yanny Petters continues at The Olivier Cornet Gallery, 3 Great Denmark St. Dublin until the 6th of November.
“Come with me, I’ll show you something beautiful”
“Komm mit mir, Ich zeig' Dir ‘was Schönes”.
Quote: The artist’s mother, the late Wilma Petters.
This new series of paintings on glass, or Verre Églomisé paintings, depicts the twelve months of the year in the artist’s County Wicklow garden and celebrate the gifts of the artist’s mother to her daughter.
Yanny Petters is renowned for her detailed paintings of plants and their habitats. This exhibition of Verre Eglomisé panels is dedicated to Wilma Petters whose garden was the inspiration for these twelve paintings, which tell stories about the artist’s relationship with her mother. The works celebrate a love of nature and a sense of curiosity and scientific enquiry, the gifts of artistic talent and the telling of stories of elements of our environment which we all too easily take for granted.
Yanny says “My mother often said, “come with me, I’ll show you something beautiful”. Most often this was a small detail, an example of my mother’s sense of wonder and appreciation of all things great and small. I thank her for instilling the same sense in me, that I might share it with others through my paintings, raising awareness and appreciation of the beautiful and bizarre in a natural world which is constantly generous and rewarding".
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue with a preface by art historian and storyteller Jean Ryan.
