The Schoolhouse for Art has twinned with Château de la Chesnaye located just north of Orléans in France to bring you Château for Art offering art retreats in 2019.
The Schoolhouse for Art will be setting off to Château de la Chesnaye for one week this September and would like to offer students an introductory offer of €550, that’s over 50% off the normal fee of €1150
The September 2018 trip will be setting off from Dublin on Friday 31st of August and returning Friday 7th September.
The fee of €550 includes full board accommodation in the Château de la Chesnaye , transfers in France including day trips and all art materials.
Flight are not included in the fee.

You will be met at the airport and driven to Château de la Chesnaye by a member of staff.
Guests will be met with refreshments on arrival at the Château de la Chesnaye. You will then get a chance to explore what will be your home for the week and get comfortable with your surroundings. There will be a cocktail party in the Clock Bar where you will get yo meet your fellow artist this will be followed by an evening meal in the garden.
All guests stay on a full board basis, the Chef’s are passionate and renowned for their family style plates of the finest fresh seasoned ingredients from the best local suppliers. Classic simplicity is our Chef’s specialty, with local produce and classic wines of the region being the staple of the daily menu.

7.30 to 9.30 ~ Breakfast in the Sun Room or out in the courtyard.
9.30 ~ Painting together with the group.
1.30 ~ Lunch.
Special Picnic presented in the grounds of the Chateau by our chef.
Relax, continue painting or choose from one of the other afternoon activities.
7.30 ~ Cocktails in the Clock Bar.
8.30 ~ Dinner on the Garden Terrace.
During your stay there will also be day trips to near by places of interest such as a trip to the City of Joan O’Arc, Orleans and Day trip to the beautiful city of Chartres.
Château de la Chesnaye, not a hotel but a home to enjoy the company of other art lovers and soul searchers. You will have the freedom to express yourself without instruction. Owner and artist, Sandra Kelly Williams will be your host for the week to ensure you have everything you’ll need. With an extensive range of creative and relaxing activities available, we guarantee time spent at Château De La Chesnaye will be rewarding and rejuvenating. The 18th century French Chateau has been lovingly renovated. Château de la Chesnaye combines traditional elegance with modern finesse. From the impressive dining room to each of the individually designed guest rooms, there’s a relaxing ambiance that convinces you the hustle and bustle of everyday life is a world away.
Experience the inspiration of Monet while painting in the countryside en plain air. Painting without instruction, you can explore your own creativity with confidence. Listen to your artistic instincts, and take pleasure in the feeling of immersing yourself into your painting and enjoying the process, without interruption.
We will provide you with all the materials you need to enjoy your painting retreat. Select from Oils, Watercolours or Acrylics. Feel free to bring along your favourite brushes.
Light breakfast served every morning of fresh croissants, tea/coffee, juice, cereal, fresh fruit and yogurts.
Light lunch of salads and cold meats each day prepared by our French Chef and presented in a stunning surprise location on the grounds of the Chateau.

Dinner – Wholesome French cuisine will be prepared by our Chef with delicious wines selected from around the region to accompany and compliment the meal.

The chateau, which is your home for the week, has beautiful spacious gardens for painting in the sunshine or cool shaded areas to enjoy reading a book while enjoying a refreshing glass of wine or champagne. The Honesty Bar is a popular feature with our previous quests allowing them to enjoy a range of refreshments and snacks at their leisure.
Take a stroll around the grounds or cycle to experience the beautiful French countryside. Bring your sketch book along and sketch the beautiful scenery as you go.
The Chateau has its own outdoor Jacuzzi for your leisure, best enjoyed at the end of a long days painting or after a workout. Yoga mats, blocks and blankets are available for your use.
The Studio will remain open all day for your convenience if you feel like getting out of the sun for the afternoon. A still-life will be set up to paint or draw.
Take a quiet moment in our private Chapel to reflect on your day. Life gets so overwhelming at times that we forget to give ourselves a chance to rejuvenate.
WIFI is provided in Reception Area for when you need to connect to the world again.
