This course is suitable for complete beginners and those looking to build confidence in stepping out of their comfort zone and dive into intuitive painting to find their unique and authentic visual language.
What to expect
Step into a world of colour and expression in this abstract art class guided by Wicklow artist Iseult McCormack.
This is more than just a class; it’s a journey into self-expression. Through engaging exercises and hands-on guidance, Iseult will help you break free from creative blocks, experiment with new techniques, and develop your own artistic voice. Iseult creates a safe and supportive space where you can take creative risks, explore personal projects, and grow as an artist.
Throughout the course you will explore the fundamentals of abstract art from colour to composition and value but with an emphasis on working with emotion and feelings. Students are invited to bring a variety of materials to work with, from inks to acrylics and charcoal also including mixed media to create texture and collage.
Come ready to let go, be inspired, and make some art that’s truly your own. This course aims to help you find the freedom to express your soul and explore your rich inner world.

Lynn suggests the following oil colours, but don't worry if you don't have them all:
Blue - ultramarine (cerulean if you would like)
two reds - cadmium red/bright red, and alizarin crimson
two yellows - lemon yellow and cadmium yellow medium
two earth colours - yellow ochre (or raw sienna), and burnt umber
Veridian green
Titanium White
You will also needsomething to paint on like primed MDF board or canvas.
A variety of brushes
A sketchbook or drawing paper and a 5B pencil
Other items to include palette, thinner (odour free), kitchen roll, liquid containers
Lynn can provide photos to work from, but please also use any suitable photo you have at home that inspires you and you would like to use to create your final painting.
