This weekend workshop is suitable for artists of all abilities – from beginners to advanced –
It’s for anyone who wishes to take a fresh look at their painting practice.

Brenda will focus on some basic principles such as composition, colour mixing, and the whole process of developing a painting from start to finish.

There will be demonstration and instruction in palette knife techniques. This will be a relaxing and enjoyable weekend to focus on your art with individual advice and support.

Materials List

Canvas or board

Selection of brushe

Palette knife, preferably oval tip

Disposable palette pad

Dippers to hold medium

Odour free thinner such as Sansodor, and a jam jar for cleaning brushes

Liquin or linseed oil

Kitchen towels and baby wipes

Oil paints to include the following colours or similar:

Titanium white

Ultramarine blue

Cerulean blue 

Cadmium red (hue)

Magenta or alizarin

Cadmium yellow light (hue)

Yellow ochre

Burnt Sienna


These colours allow for a warm and a cool of each primary, plus viridian and burnt sienna which are particularly useful for seascape painting.
