We welcomed brilliant tutor, John Dinan, back to the Schoolhouse in June for a three day plein air painting workshop! Outdoor painting is one of John’s great passions - he has run many plein air sketching and painting workshops and been a prize-winner at the International Art in the Open festival in Wexford. It seems like John’s enthusiasm has caught on with his students…
‘What a fabulous artist and teacher John Dinan is! Learnt more on those three days than I have in a lifetime. Nobody does perspective better! With much appreciation to the always progressive School house for Art’
'‘John's workshop provided a grounded and well considered introduction into drawing and sketching within the landscape. He generously shared his experience and pitched his workshop to the needs of the group. Very clear demonstrations provided the backbone of the course with areas including; Value, composition, perspective, line, colour and drawing methods. These were then brought out into the field where participants explored the local area.
The course was very easy-going yet offered massive opportunity to garner important insights for the beginner. The more advanced artist was encouraged to explore the learning within the parameters of their own practice.
The workshop was wholly characteristic of the high-quality learning experiences offered by Neil Condron's School house for Art. If you take a course in the schoolhouse, make sure to have a chat with Neil who has his studio in the schoolhouse. His generosity of spirit is ever-present as he shares his experience, knowledge and skills when speaking about his own work.
