aBOUT THE WORKSHOP
This two-day workshop is a vibrant introduction to the world of mixed media art, designed to ignite creative exploration through texture, color, layering, and storytelling. Participants will learn to combine various materials and techniques to create expressive and meaningful artworks. You will be encouraged to create a personal artwork using a combination of techniques (canvas). Encourage creative risk-taking, storytelling, and personal symbolism. Group reflection and informal show-and-tell.

Over the two days you will get an introduction to mixed media and an opportunity to explore it. There will be emphasis on creative freedom, experimentation, and personal expression.
Activities will include:
Mark-making and intuitive exploration using simple materials.
Collage & Composition
Hands-on collage: Magazine clippings, fabric scraps, personal ephemera.
Explore balance, contrast, texture, and layering basics.
Layering & Acrylic Texture Techniques
Adding paint layers using modeling paste, gesso, or textured tools.
Practice using palette knives, scraping tools, and found objects.
Alcohol inks, markers, and doodling for detail and vibrancy. Stenciling & stamping with foam, rubber, and found materials.
Intro to fabric & stitching: Add thread, buttons, ribbons, and texture.
