aBOUT THE WORKSHOP

“The Finishing Stage of a painting, in my opinion, is a lengthy, distinct and critical part of achieving a quality end result. This workshop will explore all the different aspects and techniques required, as well as sharing my unique Finishing Checklist which I apply to my own paintings”

A very popular workshop, where you will bring 4 or 5 of your own unfinished paintings and John will share how he would Finish them – and then YOU will practice all his tips and techniques to give them a whole new level of Pzazz!

Issues covered include – overall composition, tonal design, colour harmony, placing focal points, creating maximum interest, the importance, type and placement of edges, creating movement around your painting, the various ‘opposites’ that transform a painting, and how to create harmony and unity in your finished work.

This workshop is most suitable for painters with some experience, although all levels will find it accessible. Student paintings in any media are welcome, but demonstrations will be in oils or acrylics.
