aBOUT THE CLASS
Join artist Kieran for a six-week foundation course in acrylic painting. You'll be guided step-by-step through his complete process, from initial composition and value sketches to colour mixing, underpainting, and final details. Each week combines practical demonstrations with hands-on exercises to build a strong, repeatable technique in composition, value, and colour theory, giving you the essential skills to develop your own work.

Over the course of the six weeks Kieran will share his knowledge and bring students through his process for painting. He will share his fundamentals of painting from composition, defining and seeing values, colour theory and mixing to work through a repeatable process for painting that students can build a foundation on.
Introduction to acrylics the medium and considerations for its use.

Value compression and seeing values
Working towards fine detail
Each week will be practical exercises with demos to allow students to build a set of foundations for their own work throughout.

A4 sketchbook (that can take some paint), pencils or pens just for planning and compositional work when needed.
Brushes: Please bring a selection of brushes including flats, filberts and rounds of medium to small for each.
E.g. Flat size 12 and 4 | Round size 8 and 2 | Filbert size 16Palette: Stay wet palette or a normal palette with a water spray bottle.
Panels: 25cm x 35cm, 30cm x 40cm - canvas or wood panels
Acrylics: Good quality acrylics are recommended - e.g Windsor & Newton Artist Quality or Golden
