aBOUT THE WORKSHOP
Due to the high demand for time learning from Brenda Malley in-studio we are delighted to be offering another opportunity to spend 2 days with her during these workshops. This workshop will help you hone in on your own artist and creative talents under the direction and guidance of the magic Brenda Malley.
Brenda will focus on some basic principles such as composition, colour mixing, and the whole process of developing a painting from start to finish. There will demonstrations and instructions in palette knife techniques. This will be a relaxing and enjoyable workshop to focus on your art with individual advice and support.
Students may paint from Brenda’s demo, however you are encouraged to bring along your own reference photos or sketches.

-
Surface to paint on - It is very important to have a SMOOTH CANVAS for palette knife work. Brenda recommends “Belle Arti Linea 20 thin stretched canvases” from Evans Art Supplies, size 40 x 60 cm. You can order one HERE.
If you already have a canvas it is recommended that you prime and sand your canvas prior to the workshop so you have a smooth canvas to work from. Please note boards, or rough textured canvas are NOT recommended.
You only need one canvas to work on but it’s up to you if you would like to bring more or different sizes. You will be working on one main piece for the workshop.
Palette - I use disposable palette pads for mixing paint
Brushes - I prefer flexible acrylic brushes, various sizes
Palette Knife - oval shapeThinner - Must be odour free for classroom use.
