MEET JAMIE DUNNE

Jamie Dunne from Leixlip Co Kildare, developed his craft under the mentorship of his late father Davy Dunne. Jamie has treasured memories of exhibiting in the People’s Exhibition on railing of Stephen’s Green and in Powerscourt Gallery alongside him. Ballyfermot Senior College and a diploma in Animation was a further catalyst for the development of  Jamie’s  practise. A predominantly studio based artist for the initial 20 years,  the last ten years and today Jamie is most passionate about plein air painting which was ignited by  a move to Graiguenamanagh Co.Kilkenny .

This year Jamie celebrates the 5th year of hosting the Graiguenamanagh Plein Air festival in August annually. Most notably the festival has been featured in a Ned Mueller article in international plein air magazine “Modern Impressionist”. Butler Gallery Kilkenny have been judging partners and supporters of the festival also.

Jamies commitment to  plein air painting has led to incredible painting opportunities across Ireland and internationally including Electric Picnic Festival  , Kaleidoscope Festival, Cince Terre, Florence, Bergamo and the Glass Cathedral Murano & Venice in  Italy, San Francisco, Alexandria in the USA , the West Coast of Ireland, Butler Gallery gardens and of course along the Barrow in Graiguenamanagh .

Jamie has enjoyed recognition in plein air festival prizes giving , most recently receiving 1st prize at The Schoolhouse for Art plein air festival in Russborough house in 2025.
