MEET SORCA O’FARRELL
Sorca O’Farrell is an award-winning landscape artist from Howth, Co. Dublin, known for her atmospheric charcoal drawings inspired by the natural environment around her home. Over the past decade, she has held several successful solo exhibitions and has shown her work in both private and public galleries, including the National Gallery of Ireland. Her drawings are regularly selected for the RHA and RUA Annual Exhibitions, and in 2020 she received the RUA Drawing Prize.
Sorca holds an Honours Degree in Fine Art and a First-Class Honours Higher Diploma in Art Education from N.C.A.D. She has taught art at second level and lectured in drawing at third level.
Her current work grows out of daily walks through nearby forests and paths, where she makes small pen sketches and gathers reference images. Recently she has focused on groups of trees, their relationships, presence, and the way they shape the surrounding landscape.
