aBOUT THE CLASS
Drawing the human figure is the time tested way to improve your overall drawing, and the best way to improve your figure-drawing is by concentrating on the basics. The fundamentals.
This course offers a focused, skills-based approach to drawing the human figure directly from a life model. Each week, students will study a single sustained pose, systematically building core competencies. The curriculum emphasizes mastering the essential fundamentals: learning to see and draw the figure as a unified whole, identifying key anatomical forms, and capturing the pose's gesture, weight, and balance. Students will develop a practical understanding of proportion, learn to describe three-dimensional form through light and shadow, and explore the effective use of drawing materials. The goal is to provide a clear, structured foundation that improves observational accuracy and expressive drawing from the ground up.
Nicholas won 2 drawing prizes in the prestigious Florence of Academy of Art, Sweden, in his time there which he attributes to working on fundamentals. This course will explain how you can understand and apply these principles and improve your drawing from the ground up.
